Roald Dahl week

This week is Roald Dahl week at Charlestown. In our guided reading sessions, we will be focusing on the story of the Twits completing lots of different activities such as designing the front cover, character descriptions and writing disgusting recipes!

To start off the week, we were lucky enough to be able to watch a performance of the BFG which the children loved. We have been reading this book as our class novel so it was great to see it brought to life with props and sound effects!

What did you like about the performance and why?

What are you looking forward to most about Roald Dahl week?

Deforestation dilemma

In topic, we have been learning all about the Amazon Rainforest and the animals and plants that live there. As well as this, we have learnt about how people are chopping the trees down for lots of different reasons.

The children formed their own opinion about whether they think deforestation is a good thing or a bad thing. We did a conscience alley to show our ideas.

Here is what some of the children thought:

Skeleton Dancing

In science, team 5 have been learning about bones. They know that not all animals have skeletons and the animals that do not are called invertebrates.

We loved learning about what our skeletons look like inside our own bodies!

We have made our own skeletons and even did a skeleton dance by shaking our different bones!

Book Look

Today in Team 5 some of our parents joined us to have a look at our books.

The children had the chance to talk to their parents about the work they have been doing in class. They also told them about the work they were most proud of.

The children really enjoyed having their parents in to share their amazing work! Thank you to Lilly-Jo’s mum and auntie, Jayden’s mum, Jenson’s mum, Rebecca’s mum and TJ’s stepdad for joining us.
